Jason Milch
SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT
A lifelong hockey player and fan, Jason Milch laced up his first pair of skates at five years old and hasn’t stopped since; fortunately for his clients within the professional services industry, he’s taken to communications strategy with the same enthusiasm. During his relatively young career, he has already established himself as a highly trusted advisor to law firms, consultants, financial services providers, and healthcare entities on their most sensitive and significant communications needs.
At Hellerman Baretz Communications, Jason counsels clients on the achievement of business objectives through communications campaigns that range from the promotion of practice areas to crisis communications efforts. The cornerstone of his work involves positioning his clients as experts before their target audiences, from the development of strategy with client leadership through the execution of campaigns that enhance clients’ reputations in support of their specific business development goals. His work has resulted in innumerable press mentions in national, regional, and trade outlets, as well as awards from outlets such as The National Law Journal, Law360, Marketing the Law Firm, and the Legal Marketing Association.
Based in Chicago, Jason served as Vice President of Jaffe PR for six years before his arrival at HBC. There he headed the agency’s crisis communications efforts with Cari Brunelle, where his quick and thoughtful analysis of client situations, together with his close media relationships, made him a go-to resource for litigation public relations and other crisis assignments. Reflecting his esteem within the legal community, Jason was frequently relied upon by national law firms to manage internal messaging in a time of turbulence for the profession.
It was not the first time Jason has navigated momentous change in the industries he services. He began in communications working for clients in the healthcare area and later the tech sector, just as the dotcom era was rising and falling.
He earned his B.A. from The Ohio State University, and his flair for timing was also evident in college. Jason’s work within the Office of Athletic Communications, where he coordinated media coverage for several varsity teams, coincided with a period of unmatched success in the school’s football program and the first appearance by the school’s hockey team in the “Frozen Four.”
Jason has been quoted on issues related to legal marketing by the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin and Chicago Lawyer. He is an active member of the Legal Marketing Association and Legal PR Chicago.
