John Hellerman is a Partner and Co-Founder of Hellerman Baretz Communications, a strategic communications agency representing many of the world's leading law firms, consulting firms and financial services companies.

John helps his clients own their markets by consistently providing new ideas and superior strategic advice.   Dubbed a “PR whiz” and “top media relations pro” by both Law Practice Management and PR Week magazines, John has placed stories in nearly every major media outlet including the most prominent, such as the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, 60 Minutes, and Nightline, as well as in dozens of key business trade publications.

John has consulted numerous professional service firms during mergers, and has advised attorneys and executives on effective ways to manage their high-profile, high-stakes, litigation public relations needs.  He has worked on many such matters, including:  NAFTA trade disputes, the Bush/Gore election contest, international tobacco RICO suits, the Olympic scandals, numerous intellectual property and corporate securities matters, and several landmark United States Supreme Court cases.

Additionally, John has planned successful crisis communication campaigns for clients embroiled in Congressional investigations, shareholder suits, and product liability cases, as well as many other matters in which there was significant corporate involvement and corporate reputations were at stake.

John is a member of the Legal Marketing Association (LMA), the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), the American Society of Trial Consultants (ASTC), and the American Bar Association (ABA).  He is an editorial board member of Marketing the Law Firm, writes frequently and is a highly sought after speaker.

Currently, John is also President of the Board of Directors of The Reading Connection, a non-profit literacy organization dedicated to bringing books and a lifelong love of reading to children in housing crisis.
