Cool Coaching: Social-Media Training for Professionals

Are you getting left behind by the social-networking movement? If you don’t know the answer, it’s probably “yes.”

Every day, more and more companies are identifying their professional service providers through connections built on social networks. All told, more than 90 million professionals are on LinkedIn. And consider this: according to research from BTI Consulting, corporate counsel consult LinkedIn more than twice as often as the Chambers directories when searching for legal representation.

Of course, by now nearly everyone knows that social media is a great marketing tool. The problem is, getting in on the action feels as daunting as scoring an invite to that really cool party back in high school.

Rest easy, because HBC has teamed up with the renowned social-media authority Viveka von Rosen to deliver training on LinkedIn and other social-media platforms to the legal industry. Through dynamic speaking and training sessions to more than 10,000 executives, Viveka has become the most sought-after corporate consultant on social media.  Selected to write the definitive business guide to LinkedIn, The LinkedIn Companion (forthcoming from J. Wiley & Sons), she has instructed Fortune 500 companies, individual C-level executives, and a New York Times best-selling author of business books how to maximize their social-networking experience. Viveka, known on the web as “The LinkedIn Expert,” has more than 18,000 first-level connections on LinkedIn and was named one of 25 Women Who Rock Social Media by the TopRank blog.

Together, HBC and Viveka have developed a curriculum on LinkedIn and other social-media platforms tailored to the needs of legal professionals. These “Cool Coaching” seminars can be delivered to law firms, practice groups, or individual lawyers. CLE certification is available for the highly customizable sessions, which cover:

  • Using social media to network and credential yourself;
  • How to use LinkedIn and Twitter most effectively for business development;
  • Ethical considerations and limitations;
  • Optimization techniques to make your firm and professionals more searchable on Google;
  • Individual profile building on LinkedIn; and
  • Follower development on Twitter.
