Twitter Hashtags for #LegalMediaTypes

Here at HBC we try to stay current on social media news, and a recent Ad Age article really caught our attention.  The piece shares data gathered by What the Trend, a tracking service that follows trending topics on Twitter.  One remarkable shift in the Twitterverse observed by What the Trend: the rise of hashtags.  While hashtagged phrases represented just 9% of trending topics in 2009, that number skyrocketed to 40% in 2010.

While the Sound Bites crew may not be #QuackQuackQuack-ing for the Ducks, lauding @BritneysSpears' new single as the #bestsongever, or professing our #LOVE for @JustinBieber, there is a relevant point here: more than ever, hashtags are being used to find and spread information on Twitter.  Whether you want to get your firm or personal Twitter account more attention, or you simply hope to build some new Twitter connections, employing hashtags will help.

Indeed, people with few actual followers can instantaneously interject their tweets into communities of thousands (potentially millions) and thus gain tremendous influence, credibility, and stature around an issue.

And to help you even more, we've put together the below list of popular Twitter hashtags for those in and around the legal world.  Stick one of these on your messages where relevant, and it'll increase the impact of your tweets:
